Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (White) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This thing has a range of about a foot, with really poor quality sound. It may be as good or better than other transmitters that are available, but it's still pretty lousy. Not really as good as standard FM, probably halfway between AM and FM, and interrupted by the occasional static.I modified it as described in the websites that describe how to do such things, but the sound is so crappy, that it's hardly worth the price. The modified range is about 50 feet.

I realize that it solves a problem of allowing an MP3 player to work in your car, and there aren't any good alternatives, but but this isn't going to make anyone really happy. It's just a barely passable solution. It does what it's supposed to, and if you modify it, it has much better range, but it's really not a great result.

UPDATE: I really wanted a product like this, so I bought the "whole house transmitter" right on Amazon and it works.Near FM quality sound, decent range (about 40 feet). It only broadcasts on one of 6 channels, but at least the quality is acceptable if you can find an open one, and it punches through weak stations so the channel doesn't really have to be completely clear. It's 3X the price, but that seems to be what it takes to get decent quality sound.

Noah Company MediaGate MG-IKIT5N1 iPhone/iPod Hands Free USB FM Transmitter (Black) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Everything about this product works great except for one important item.First the good things:

1. The transmitter is strong and crisp
2. Works with the iPhone 3g
3. The arm is great - moves around to wherever you wish.Very sturdy.
4. You only need to insert the jack for hands free calling (only need the charger to listen to music).

Overall & originally, I was overjoyed at how well this product worked.

Now, the bad:

1. It doesn't swivel so that you can put the iPhone in landscape/coverflow mode...Not a big deal though...But what IS a big deal:
2. The unit actually "beeps" about once a minute.Sometimes you can hear it really well (listening to talk radio), and sometimes not at all (but usually you will hear at least one beep every five minutes or so).I wrote the MediaGate Tech Support, and their reply was:

"The reason for it beeping every 30 seconds or so is in order for the FM transmitter and FM radio to stay active and not in idle mode, it requires the unit to beep. This is a normal feature but unfortunately there is no way of turning this off."

I'm not sure if I am going to return this yet; but I have a feeling it could go one of two ways...Either it drives me insane, or I just start not hearing it like a grandfather clock.I'll try it for another couple days and see how I feel...

Apple Ipod 5-in-1 Black Fm Transmitter Car Kit with Car Adapter for Ipod 3rd, 4th, 5th Generation, Mini, Photo, U2, Nano 2nd Gen, Video, Classic, Touch + iPod Touch Silicone Case(black) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this transmitter along with the new iPod touch (16 gb) so I could listen to music in my car. It works great and has a USB port and a dual male connector cord so it is compatible with basically any mp3 player. Also, you can use any frequency which guarantees at least one will come through clear. On top of this, the case actually fits the new iPod (Note: The volume button is covered, but still able to be pressed since it is a silicone case). Overall this is a great product, and for the price it is a steal and can't be beat. I would recommend to anyone that is looking for an FM transmitter for their car.

10-in-1 Black FM Transmitter Car Kit with Remote and Car Adapter Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I don't usually write reviews, but I was so pleased with this product that I had to do it. I have owned several FM transmitters (Griffin, Belkin) and always found them to be very annoying with having to change channels constantly. With this one I drove all the way across New York State and never changed the channel once. There was very little hissing and interference. Moreover, the holder is very handy and adjusts to many different sized ipods. I have a Touch, I didn't try it on other kinds. Great product! (Even has a remote, which I will probably lose, but it's still nifty)

Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The transmission is terrible, you can barely hear the music over the static. The scanning function doesn't even pick the best of the static stations, when you are lucky it is only .1 or .2 off from a decent station, but about half the time there is no transmission at all. Also the dial, which initially looks fancy and fun, is very awkward to manipulate while driving. So essentially this is a very expensive ipod charger for when you are on the go.
