(More customer reviews)All of the GPS units in the $300-$400 price range have some limitations.But, this Uniden GPS-402 works great is easy to use and has very few negatives.The only ones which I could see were no text-to-speech capability and no Bluetooth wireless functions.If these two issues do not concern you, then this is the GPS for you.This is a great looking GPS with a beautiful 4" screen which is auto adjusting and excellent in direct sunlight.The 402 uses the latest version of NavTeq maps and has wonderful planning & routing options which you cannot get on the Garmin models (add, delete & mark way points and view routes).The GPS-402 comes with an excellent windshield dock and bracket which is easy to attach and remove and is very stable.Exceptional ergonomics and functionality - one can cancel the current route by simply touching the corner of the map screen.One can get to the route option screen by touching any part of the map screen while proceeding to the destination.Even though it does not have text-to-speech the GPS-402 works very well with visual bars and a voice counting down from 1000 feet before turns.One can display the entire route on the screen by simply dragging the screen toward the destination point before you drive it.The unit can also route by street intersections as well as addresses and POI's.The POI database is current and seems to have a countless numbers of restaurants and other points which I checked for some small and large towns. It pulled up every imaginable museum for the greater Seattle area.This was better than expected since it states over 2 million POI's total.Maybe they save on some categories like movie theaters.This GPS also has excellent external buttons and controls which can same time over using screen menus.The GPS-402 has the latest SiRF III chipset and tracks in seconds with instant auto rerouting. Did I mention that this GPS seems well built and comes in a very attractive case with black rubber grips on the sides (looks better than the picture). I understand that the Garmins are very easy to use and are great products, but I will stay with the Uniden with a larger and better looking screen , more functionality & routing options, with the same ease of use for less money than the Nuvi-350.

After just at few times used, the meter stopped working.I paid about $115 for it.Not happy at all.Manufacturer offers two year warranty, but I have to ship it back to them (IT IS VERY HEAVY) and then they replace it with a refurbised one - not a new one.Stinks, after how much I paid for it.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my trolling motor as my brother kept on me about getting a battery charger - marine type.Anyway, it works just great and from my perspective, no second guessing, just simple hook it up and forget it!I now have the confidence that I am not overcharging, that I won't get stuck out in the middle of our lake with a drained battery and that my brother is now a happy fisherman as he comes up to the lake and uses MY pontoon and trolling motor which now always has a fully charged battery!!!!Hooray for simplicity and excellence in quality!

(More customer reviews)I've owned this charger for 5 years.It has a "manual" function, meaning that you can charge a battery past the normal 80% that the automatic chargers will.It means you can also charge one more quickly because the automatic function (also on this unit) of most chargers tapers off the amperage sent to the charger as it reaches 80% of charge.(15 amps also goes faster than ten.)Manual means you can also "condition" a battery to get the sulfites off of the plates, by carefully charging and watching to the point where the battery plates begin to gas off.Means a battery will take and maintain a better charge and last longer.I use it on the RV cabin battery for this, but also use it regularly just for car stuff.

All this and it does what other chargers do.2 amp trickle charge, high powered capacitor starting function.

I DROVE OVER THIS CHARGER WITH A 5000 POUND 1986 LTD CROWN VICTORIA TODAY!FLAT as a pancake.Ahem, well.First plugged it in and promptly blew the garage circuit breaker.Immediately started hunting for other Schumacher chargers on the net.After spending two hours and seeing this particular unit is now over $100 new, thought "Well, let's see if I somehow tear it apart and look."No sooner got the mangled housing off, and (uuuhhh!!) bent the back upright (which had a circuit board on it), plugged it in, and it works!!And, in the course of bending back the heavy steel housing, NO paint flaked off.Must be baked-on enamel.These babies are built tough.As another reviewer for Schumacher chargers said, "No repackaged imported junk".

I take my hat off to this company: features, durability (!), quality........ wow.

(More customer reviews)This jewel is very light to pack a 50Amp punch.I connected it to a battery insufficient to turn over the starter.The guy working on the house left his light on in the truck bed.I connected the charger to the battery while in the 2Amp mode, then plugged the battery charger into the 120VAC receptacle.I then switched it to the 50Amp selection and allowed to charge the battery for 4-5 minutes.While the charger was still connected to the battery, the guy was able to start his truck.Man was I blown away.Following the instructions, I changed the charging selection switch to the 2Amp mode, disconnected the charger from the 120VAC receptacle, and then disconnected it from the battery.How sweet - no arcing, no sparking.This is a must have!!!Excellent value and quality.

(More customer reviews)First, let me say that this charger performs flawlessly and deserves five stars when it is in charging mode. I have used it for three years and hundreds of successful charging cycles on a dozen different batteries of various sizes and types.

However, on two different occasions and with two different batteries (both brand new when hooked to the charger) I left them in "trickle charge" mode. The batteries were part of an emergency communications station that must to be ready at any time with full batteries. This charger burned up both batteries after three months of trickle charging. This mode is supposed to allow a battery to be hooked up indefinitely and maintain it at peak performance. Not destroy it. Other folks in the emergency communications service use other chargers and leave them in trickle mode for years. DO NOT use this charger for that kind of operation.
