(More customer reviews)This is awesome! One drawback, the directions are a little confusing. There are two sets, one in the little pamphlet, another in the form of stickers on the actual product. One says charge 12 hours before using, the other says 48 hours. One says, for jump-starting, connect directly to the battery, the other says connect as you would to another car (red cable to red terminal, black cable to a non-moving metal part of the engine or "ground"). I did it connecting to a ground and that worked. It also said let sit for five minutes before starting your engine, but I tried it right away and that also worked fine.

BUT WAIT, this is the amazing part. I bought this for a relatively crappy car that may or may not have an electrical leak, but it's mostly a secondary car that I don't drive often enough anyway. Within a number of weeks, I have used this thing THREE TIMES without charging.Again, directions say charge immediately after each jump, but THREE TIMES. And the little guage on the side of it STILL says 100% ready charge, and the light still turns on bright and everything....... WOW

Also, you don't have to lug it inside and plug it in to recharge. If you're worried you can plug it in to the cigarette lighter and recharge it while you drive, so it'll be ready next time you park. But again, I did not do this, 3 times WITHOUT charging and still at 100% (Course, I followed the 48 hour instructions, so I started at about 110-115% charge... probably should have mentioned that sooner :p )

Bottom line: works exactly as advertised. Is cheap compared to other brands. Definitely worth every penny.

They did charge me shipping for 25 lbs, even though it actually weighs 15 lbs, but still worth it.

Cons: 1) It has a little cooling fan that is slightly noisy and runs almost continuously. Highway road noise mostly masks the noise. 2) Sometimes the inverter would blink a red light and temporarily suspend power output. Maybe it was too hot powering my HP laptop. According to kill-o-watt, my laptop usually draws only about 25 watts, or about 40 watts when also recharging the battery. 3) It sometimes smells a little bit like burnt plastic.

Overall, I am satisfied with this inverter for the money spent. If I had to buy another, I'd probably get something with a little more power. However, my Honda Civic has a limit of 120 watts for DC accessories. The 175 watt inverter I used to have blew the fuse. Check your auto owner's manual for the power limit before you buy.

(More customer reviews)I was a bit skeptical about these panels when I originally tested it, but in the end it performed excellent. I use it to charge my Duracell power pack 600hd and it charged fully in 4 to 5 hours. I noticed that you don't need full sunlight for this panel to work but the more sunlight the higher output of course. Don't plan on using this panel to power AC electronics its not designed for that. My inverter only powered up to about 15 watts ac power or one 13Watt CFL bulb. It also is good for charging cell phones or anything under 15 watts. On the negitive side I have not tried this product in wet weather and I don't think that I will as it's not water sealed very well, and I've noticed so far the stands that prop up the panel aren't very robust and would not hold up in much wind.

(More customer reviews)I have used this product to inflate bicycle tires successfully on several occasions, used the DC outlet to recharge a GPS, and yesterday my car battery (2000 Honda Civic) went dead so i got a chance to try the jump starter.Worked fine and was able to jump start the car several times.

Downsides to the product: inverter is a little noisy, and the initial charge time to charge this product takes 34 hours from an AC outlet.

Also the inverter switch is not behind a panel the way the other switches are; this would have been useful to have because it means I need to keep the product in its box to prevent the inverter switch from accidentally turning on if the device rolls around in my trunk.

(More customer reviews)I followed the charging instructions for the Power Pack 300 C. After 48 hours of AC charging, the light was still amber instead of green. The manual said, if the light was amber, wait 15 mins and press a button on the unit that would reveal the charging level. I did this and the unit said it was fully charged. The Power Pack ran a 40 watt table lamp for 4 hours as promissed!
However the next time I charged the system the same thing happened. The light was Amber. After waiting 30 mins I pressed the button on the unit but this time it registered "RED". I moved the unit to another outlet and charged it for another 48 hours. Same Result (RED)! I plugged in the 40 watt table lamp and it lasted only 20 mins.
I love the idea Xantrex had for a portable electronic generator, however their execution came up a little short on this one. The unit is going back!

(More customer reviews)I thought this charger was the greatest thing around the first couple of times I used it.Now, less than a year after I purchased it, it won't charge the battery.The battery meter shows that is has about a half charge (12.5 volts) but there isn't enough juice to turn over a VW beetle.I tried to plug it in to recharge it but it is not taking a charge.It looks and feels very durable.The compressor worked fine yesterday but the internal battery in the unit won't charge.Seems like I'm not the first with this problem.

(More customer reviews)I charged the battery when the product arrived.Then used it to operate a Garmin GPS for several hours.After this one time use the unit's battery would not recharge.Tried recharging with both AC adapter and car power cord. Recharge light did not turn on in either attempt.Then called manufacturer help line.Got the run around speaking with several people, none able to offer technical assistance.Contrary to their warranty statement they will not accept product returns for repair or replacement.Fortunately for me, Amazon has a superb simple-to-use, no-questions-asked, no-postage-cost-to-me return.The manufacturer, according to the product packaging, is Sun-Mate Corp, Canoga Park, CA.Their 800 number is no longer working so I used a direct number to call.I gather they are an importer of cheap made-in-China products and not a the real manufacturer.They have been around for awhile but act and sound like a fly-by-night operation.Amazon lists 16 products from Sun-Mate.Buyers beware.

If it was an option in writing reviews I would give this product zero stars, not one star.

Lesson learned:don't buy products before checking out the company that Amazon buys from.

Suggestion to Amazon: Drop Sun-Mate as a supplier.Also, it would be nice to see the product warranties on your web site so buyers can make a more informed buy decision.In this case the 30-day warranty period would have been a warning to me that this product may not be worth purchase.The warranty on such an item should be at least 90 days, and preferably 1 year.

(More customer reviews)This model is a recent purchase and I also have one 12V only model (3600) that I purchased two years ago.I own two farms and several vehicles and various farm equipment. Both units are very rugged and perform very well. I have used them both to start farm tractors, cars, trucks, mowers, a generator, and my Bobcat in winter. The cables and clamps are heavy commercial quality items that store nicely when not in use.The built-in charger works well to quickly charge and maintain the internal batteries. It will jump-start several vehicles between charges. These have really proved invaluable and save me the hassle of getting a truck close in while trying to get the battery side close enough so I can wrestle around with a cold set of jumper cables - what a pain.. I carry one of these on trips, when towing or in bad weather so in an emergency I don't have to rely on the kindness of strangers for a jump-start although I have rescued two damsels in distress and one city guy with a Neon so far. You don't have to worry about smoking the alternator on your truck when jumping an unfamiliar vehicle either. The accessory 12V cigarette lighter-type outlet has actually proven to be a handy "never thought I would use it" feature. The switches are commercial quality and are not flimsy junk like many others.The LED readout actually provides useful information concerning internal battery or vehicle voltage levels or percentage of charge.If you are in the market for a no-nonsense unit, then I can tell you I have been very pleased with both of mine. You can rest assured that you will get what you pay for. Ladies, these would make a great gift for your busy guy. Just make sure it's big enough for his equipment. The 12V only is fine unless he has really big trucks, tractors or airplanes. I had to buy both of mine myself. I was able to take advantage of an Amazon gift card to help out on the second one. I was very surprised how quickly this one arrived.

Two design shortcomings I hoped weren't there, keep it from 5 stars - #1: it charges from either a wall-wart 12V adapter, or from a 12V cigarette lighter plug.I much prefer a direct 120V power cord connection versus the wall adapter variety.#2 shortcoming: it doesn't have a self float-charge cycle - you must limit your charge times manually by unplugging it (battery damage if charged too long).Ach!Still, guess a person could attach his own float-charge unit instead of the supplied 12vdc adapter.But heck, Wagan, design that into it, like the better powerpacks have.

(More customer reviews)I needed an inverter to charge my laptop and cell phone in the car on road trips, and this one fit the bill nicely.I have tested it out in the car with my computer plugged in, and it works fine.It powered my computer and supplied plenty of current to charge the battery while I was using it.
This thing is smart.If you try to run it off the 12V accessory outlet in your car without running the engine, the inverter lets out a constant beep telling you that you're going to run down your battery if you continue.According to the manual, this beep could also mean that the voltage dropped below 11.0V.I didn't know which it was in my particular case, but as soon as I started the engine, the squeal stopped and it was happy to charge my computer.
The ground fault interruptor, overpower and underpower warnings, battery drain warnings, auto shut-off, the 12V DC pass-through, and the option to hook the inverter directly to your battery are all very very useful features on a solid product.Well worth the reasonable price you pay!

A word of warning: if you need an inverter, make SURE you look at the amperage needed to power whatever it is you want to plug in!This one supplies 1.74 amps, which is more than enough for most laptops, game consoles, cell phones, and portable TVs, but ALWAYS double check and make sure.If you want to plug in a small fridge, for example, check the power requirements to make sure this thing can supply enough current!You'll save yourself a lot of frustration if you are certain of what you are buying.

I highly recommend this inverter!It's worth every penny, and it feels and performs like a much more expensive unit.

I'm still waiting for a replacement BUT Black & Decker no longer makes it, It is a Vector Product now with half the warranty.
Pass on this one by all means.
